DEMANES aims to provide component-based methods, framework and tools for the development of runtime adaptive systems, enabling them to react to changes in themselves, in their environment and in user needs. Major societal challenges require large-scale monitoring and control solutions. Technological developments will make it possible to design and build these large systems. However, a versatile methodology is lacking to design and implement these systems so DEMANES aims to model the architecture and the operation of adaptive systems and support the design process. DEMANES will incorporate recent advances in systems and control engineering. The concept, methodology and tools developed in DEMANES will be validated and demonstrated in three use cases: smart urban transport, smart airport and smart home.
