SESAMO will enable the cost-efficient and systematic design, analysis, development and assessment of distributed safety and security critical embedded systems. The results will have broad, cross-domain applicability in numerous strategic sectors of European industry. The SESAMO project addresses the root causes of problems arising with the convergence of safety and security in embedded systems at architectural level. The proposal is to develop a component-oriented design methodology based upon model-driven technology, jointly addressing safety and security aspects and their interrelation for networked embedded systems in multiple domains (e.g., avionics, transportation, industry control). The relevance of the SESAMO results is guaranteed by the involvement of large partners with significant economic interests in safety and security critical systems in the use case domains, a sound group of technology providers (including SMEs) and prestigious research entities with in-depth and complementary multi-domain expertise.
