Event information

The 2nd edition of the ARTEMIS Technology Conference will take place on 4-6 October 2016 in Madrid, Spain. After a successful first ARTEMIS Technology Conference 2015 in Turin, the Steering Board decided to continue with this type of event with themed workshops.

In addition to the workshops and themed presentations on 5 and 6 October, the event will contain a Pre-Brokerage for H2020 Calls related to Embedded Intelligence on 4 and 5 October. The event thus provides:

  • the opportunity to meet consortium partners and draft project proposals with the starting consortia
  • an important indication for Public Authorities to sense the field of interest in advance
  • in-depth technological information about project achievements and state-of-the-art technology

Project workshops

The ARTEMIS Technology Conference will again have a focus on deep technological presentations, both on project achievements and state-of-the-art technology.
The project workshops (full & half day) are organised by five projects:

Theme-based project presentations

In parallel to these project workshops, short project presentation tracks are built from the following four thematic one-day workshops:

  • Smart Cities
  • Smart Energy
  • Interoperability in CPS and IoT
  • Future CPS industrial research challenges

H2020 Pre-Brokerage

To serve the community best, ARTEMIS-IA decided to combine its Technology Conference with a Pre-Brokerage. The ARTEMIS Pre-Brokerage focusses on the Embedded Intelligence part of the project calls within the H2020 programme, including the ECSEL Calls, to help with the drafting of project proposals and finding consortium partners.

The ARTEMIS Pre-Brokerage will start on 4 October, and will continue during the Technology Conference workshops on 5 October.

We highly recommend using the ARTEMIS Project Idea Tool, which will serve as basis for the Pre-Brokerage event.

Advantages of the ARTEMIS Pre-Brokerage Event:
  • propose your project idea to potential project partners
  • check project ideas from others in order to join their consortium
  • work out project ideas to indicative proposal
  • build a strong project consortium
  • build and enlarge your network

Project Idea Tool

How to make the best out of the ARTEMIS Pre-Brokerage Event
  1. Make your project ideas known via the ARTEMIS Project Idea Tool, prior to the Pre-Brokerage Event.
Consortia that have uploaded their idea in ARTEMIS Project Idea Tool, will receive feedback, and:

    • After approval, you will have the opportunity to present your idea in the plenary session in a short project pitch (5 min) to promote your project idea poster.

    • All project ideas submitted in the ARTEMIS Project idea Tool get poster space to generate additional interest during poster sessions (after project pitches).

  2. Use the ARTEMIS Pre-Brokerage poster example to create a poster.

Disclamer

  • Presentation time-slots will only be given to consortia that have at least one industrial partner.
  • Due to limited time-slots, a pre-selection of project pitches will be made. An overview of the final selected project pitches will be published on the ARTEMIS Technology Conference 2016 webpages latest Friday 30 September 2016 and all persons of the selected projects will receive an e-mail.
  • Participants do not sign a Non Disclosure Agreement (NDA). Confidentiality is your own responsibility.

Arrival by Plane

Madrid-barajas Airport (Madrid)

Madrid-Barajas Airport (code IATA: MAD, code ICAO: LEMD) is located on the northeast of Madrid, Barajas district, only 12 kilometers from Madrid city centre.

Public Transport

Bus

The old 89 bus route to Plaza Colón has been discontinued and replaced by the Exprés Aeropuerto (Airport Express), a 24-hour service which has only 3 stops after the airport: O'Donell, Plaza de Cibeles and Atocha (this last stop only from 06:00-23:30 hrs). The buses run every 15 minutes during the day and every 35 minutes at night, and the journey takes approximately 40 minutes. Tickets cost 5 euros and may be bought on board. There are stops at terminals T1, T2 and T4. You can download the Airport Express information sheet in PDF format here

Note: Once in the city, you can purchase a 10-trip "Metrobus" ticket in newspaper outlets, "estancos" or tobacconists and Metro stations, which is valid for both the EMT city buses and also the Metro (supplementary charge for journeys to/from the airport - see below). If taking several bus journeys, save money with the Madrid Travel Pass.

Metro

Madrid's Barajas Airport has Metro stations in Terminal T2 and Terminal T4. Trains leave every 5 minutes from 06.00-02.00 hrs. Line 8 goes straight to the Nuevos Ministerios Metro station in the centre of Madrid, with a journey time of just 12 minutes.

The price of a single journey to/from the airport is 5 euros, including supplementary airport charge. If you already possess a valid Metro ticket, you can purchase the airport supplementary ticket for 3 euros.

Tip: Consider buying the Madrid Tourist Travel Pass, which allows you to travel on any Metro, bus or suburban train, all included in the price of just 5 euros, also including the airport surcharge.
It is also possible to purchase a 10-trip "Metrobus" ticket, valid for both the Metro and city buses, at newspaper outlets, "estancos" or tobacconists and Metro stations. You will still need to purchase the supplementary ticket for any journey to/from the airport.

See our Madrid Maps section to download a plan of the Madrid Metro or visit the Madrid Metro website.

Taxi

If you prefer taking a taxi, walk outside the airport terminal to the taxi ranks. Do not accept offers from drivers inside the terminal, since these are often illegal drivers who overcharge. There is a fixed rate of 30 euros to any central location (within the M-30 ring-road). For other locations there are supplements to the basic fare, including: obligatory initial fare, surcharge to/from airport, surcharge to/from bus or train stations and to/from the Ifema trade fairs. There is no charge for suitcases, rucksacks or pets. Always ask for a receipt at the end of your journey in case the fare comes into dispute.
